Covergirl Intense Shadow Blast Review

Hi Guys !
So recently I purchased the Covergirl Intense Shadow Blast in the colour Beige Blaze so that I could test out the product since the advertising for this product looked amazing ! (I'm such a sucker for good advertising!)

When I swatched it in the store I was really excited to get home and try it out since it swatched really well, however now that I've used it a few times I'm a little on the fence about it. Maybe it is the colour I picked or maybe it's the product itself but I feel like when I apply it to my eyes it isn't a 'intense' as when I swatch it on my hand. For example, this is how it swatched on my hand

As you can see the colour is really pigmented, however when I applied it to my eyelid it came out like this..

Hardly noticeable ! 

I have also used it a few times as a primer underneath my usual eyeshadow and I have to say that it definitely works better as a hint of shimmer underneath your eyeshadow rather than an all over 'intense' shadow. 

I'm also not crazy about the applicator it's impossible to get a nice shape on your eye with it and I always end up using my finger to smooth out harsh lines which makes the eyeshadow itself even less noticeable as it rubs away quite easily. 

So all in all, I wasn't overly impressed with the Intense Shadow Blast as a Shadow, however as a primer I think it works well to blend other colours together. 

If you have tried out other colours, let me know if this is the same for those as well, when I bought this colour I intended on buying a bolder colour once I had tested this out, however after I used this I'm a bit skeptical about buying another one. What do you think?

Nail of the Day- ESSIE French Affair

Finally I have purchased my very first ESSIE nail polish in the shade French Affair.

As I was applying the first coat I thought that I might be disappointed with the formula as it was coming out quite streaky however with a second coat it was completely opaque :)
I am very impressed and will definitely be purchasing more !

ESSIE and Maybelline !

Okay so I just took my brother down to get his haircut at our local shopping centre and as I was walking through the make up section of my chemist I noticed that they sell Essie nail polish !!! (This is a big deal for Australian's..lol) I have bought an OPI polish from there before, so I will definitely purchase my first Essie nail polish and give you guys a review soon, but as I start uni tomorrow and it's the end of my paycheck I couldn't afford one right now :P

I did however pick up this blush from Maybelline for $2 ! Yay !

It is the Maybelline New York Expert Wear Blush in the colour Dusty Rose.

I did try to swatch it on my hand but it's such a light colour against my skin it's not reading on my camera, I tried to take a photo of it actually on my cheeks as well and the camera is still not picking it up, however that's how I like my blushes to be just a little bit of a different shade as I don't feel that really bright cheeks suit my skin tone since I'm so ridiculously pale ! 

So I'm really pleased with this purchase considering it only cost me $2 !

The Get To Know Me Tag- Blog Edition

So I figured since I'm new to this whole blogging thing that I would do like a 'get to know me' post but when I tried to write it I really had know idea where to start or what to write about so then I had the brilliant idea of watching a 'get to know me' video on YouTube and copying the questions :S So here goes nothing :)

Question1- Are you a morning person?
I would say no. Morning's don't bother me as long as I'm left alone to get ready in my own time. I'm not very sociable in the morning's so I prefer to be left alone.

Question 2- Do you collect anything?
I am slowly but surely starting to build up by makeup collection so I do collect makeup. I also have a collection of movie tickets and other tickets that I collected when I was younger. I'm also starting to collect nail polishes as well even though I haven't got all that many at the moment.

Question 3- What were your favourite childhood shows?
When I was in primary school I was obsessed with 'Home and Away', which for anyone who doesn't know is like the Australian version of 'Days of Our Lives' I guess. It's about a small beach town where everyone know's everyone and basically it's just really dramatic :P

Question 4- What do you think about when you go to sleep?
I sleep with the TV on because I find if I don't have something to listen to I think to much and I'll never get to sleep, so I'm usually thinking about whatever DVD I'm watching.

Question 5- Favourite colour?
I'd go with pink :)

Question 6- Have you ever been addicted to computer or video games?
Not so much computer or video games, more iPhone apps. The latest ones are Temple Run and Cooking Dash. Soooo addictive.

Question 7- What are your bad habits?
Hmm, my worst habit would probably be my eating habits. I swear if I didn't dance as much as I do I would be the size of a house.

Question 8- Any tattoo's or piercings?
No piercings (my ear piercing's are probably closed up) and no tattoo's.

Question 9- What is your dream car?
A Metallic Green Volkswagon Beetle :)

Question 10- What is the celebrity you most resemble?
I wouldn't have a clue.. My nan did tell me once that I looked like Miranda Kerr with my oversized sunnies on but I think the oversized sunnies were as far as our resemblance goes. Lol.

Question 11- Favourite flower?
Maybe Orchids... I'm not all that big on flowers though, I'd rather someone buy me something that wasn't going to die in three days.

Question 12- What is your dream job?
I'm currently about to start my 2nd year in my Bachelor of Primary Education course.. so my dream job would be to have control over my own 1st grade class :)

Question 13- What's under my bed?
I've just done a massive room cleanout so at the moment all that is under my bed is two boxes full of DVD box sets and movies as well as a box of my uni stuff and my nail polish box.

Question 14- Are you a clean or messy person?
I'd say I'm about 80% messy and 20% clean. I'm messy with most things however my book work has to be meticulous and I have a specific order to my stuff. Like, my DVD box sets have to be in a particular order. Maybe that's just OCD...

Question 15- If you could live anywhere in the world right now other that where you live where would it be?
I wouldn't so much move to a different place because I love where I live but I would like to move to a different house with my own bathroom, preferably with my boyfriend. lol

Question 16- Do you have a hidden talent?
It's not so much of a hidden talent but I have been dancing for 15 years.

Question 17- Favourite movie?
I have so many favourite movies it's ridiculous...
A few are Mean Girls, Centre Stage, 10 Things I Hate About You.... that's all I can think of right this second.

Question 18- What's something most people don't know about you?
Hmmm.... Again this isn't so secret but I'm obsessed with the Kardashians... The show, the brands, the people all of it.

Question 19- Do you know the origin of your name?
My name literally means someone who makes pants...

Question 20- What is the last text message you received on your phone?
My boyfriend told me he 'loves me like a dorito filled chicken burger'. I guess you had to be there......

Hi !

My name is Tayla and I am a first time blogger from Australia :) 

My intention for this blog is for it to be more of a beauty blog however with mostly/all drugstore products considering that I am a poor uni student and spending a whole lot of money on makeup is just not possible for me !
